To start off the resurrection of active posting to design.Principles, we might as well start with a redesign. The goal with this latest version of the site is to keep it simple. All types of posts (full articles, quick links, site showcases) will all be handled the same and given equal share with their own individual pages.

The homepage has been scaled down tremendously. It focuses on the four latest news and article posts, while giving ample attention to the search, categories and other recent posts. The slight gradation of color within the four main articles is to help illustrate their relative age to one another — the newest being slightly more vibrant in color. Update Forgot to mention that the homepage uses a little jQuery fun in it’s presentation.

We all know that content is king. As such, the individual features page has also been simplified. The copy is easier to read and commenting much more linear and easier to follow. Each article has additional information to provide additional links to categories, tags and possible related links.

So, there you have it. A simple reintroduction for a simplified layout revision. I’m excited about the site again and eager to publish a few article ideas I have floating around.
